Abstract
The magnetic field reduction of phase conductors by a metal plate is investigated. The global variational method under open boundary conditions is introduced to analyze the degradation of the magnetic field. The shielding efficiency of the plate in respect to the width, the thickness and the distance from the phase conductors is determined
