Abstract :
An overview is given about the possibilities to design air core magnets (magnets without an iron yoke) of very different shape for different applications. A “Magnet Design Facility” (MDF) was developed to design interactively magnets in order to get quick response. The computer codes used are shortly outlined, and different examples are given to show the wide variety of magnet types which can he easily handled. In addition, several examples of designed and/or constructed magnets or magnet systems are shown designed by using MDF
