Abstract
A monitor and control system has been designed, constructed, and tested for the purpose of controlling all aspects of a scintillating fiber active target system used in high-energy physics experimentation. The system requires control of high voltages, gating, a trigger counters, and monitoring. It resides in a radioactive area with very limited access. The control system uses a microcomputer and two specialized Z80-based processors, with their associated circuitry. The design and performance of the hardware and software, all of which is custom built, is discussed.<>
