In this special theme issue on PC spreadsheet software, the authors look at how spreadsheets evolved; analyze the genesis of VisiCalc; and provide recollections on Lotus 1-2-3. In addition, the issue features an article on computing at the Malta Statistics Office from 1947 to 1970.
