  • Abstract
    A user-centered video exploration system is essential for video content browsing and searching. In this paper, we present a system that facilitates video content exploration to any level of detail within any video segment. The proposed system allows semantic exploration of video content in a user-controlled fashion. This system contains two subsystems. First, a two-level video buffer system is introduced to filter insignificant and redundant frames and organize video key frames in a graph index structure, which facilitates hierarchical exploration of video content. Second, a user interface is developed to help users interactively explore video content. The system introduces three important features: interactive video exploration, semantic video content overview, and semantic video exploration at different level of detail. A user study demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed system and shows the user-friendliness of the user interface
