Abstract :
A data acquisition system based on the VMEbus standard is described. Its modular design, which uses a general-purpose VME board for bus interface and specialized subboards, permits easy adaptation of specific-application modules in nuclear electronics to a powerful computer bus standard. A four-channel flash analog-to-digital converter (100 MHz) module with 8-bit (eff. 10-bit nonlinear) resolution and a memory depth of 1024 words is described. The system is mainly designed for small and medium size setups with rapidly changing requirements.
