Abstract :
The California State Water Project is one of the largest water and power systems in the world and includes over 130 hydroelectric units. An overview of the planning and implementation of the control and communication systems replacement for the entire project is provided. New control system features are described, including a multi-agency control center, off-site backup control center, four area control systems, ten major pumping/generating plant control systems, and a 400 mile long fiber optical communication system
