Abstract :
A quantitative investigation of the leakage loss spectrum of the LP/sub 11/-mode in coated depressed index clad fibers is made using the matrix method. The study reveals oscillations similar to those seen in the measurement of cutoff wavelength. The results do not agree with recently published results and a plausible explanation of the discrepancies is given.<>
