Abstract :
An integrated diesel upgrade program which addressed safety-related load unitization, operator load management and diesel capability is described. The program included mechanical engine upgrades. upgrade of the supporting ventilation systems, modifications to the plant electrical distribution system, and major planning efforts to assure availability of power supplies to support shutdown cooling throughout installation of the diesel upgrades. In addition, some unique approaches were integrated into the overall testing program to address Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection and Enforcement Bulletin 91-13 and temperature concerns for switchgear and diesel excitation systems
