Abstract :
A new theoretical solution for studying the absorption of electromagnetic radiation by finite dielectric bodies is described. It combines the analytical eigenfunction-expansion method with a single surface integral equation. The method is applied to compute the electromagnetic fields inside a finite circular cylinder excited by a plane electromagnetic wave. The theoretical results are compared with the measured data, obtained by the authors, on cylinders of salt water.
