Abstract :
A series of radiation-pattern measurements have been carried out on a composite cylindrical dielectric-rod aerial structure Comparison with the pattern of a uniform cylindrical rod excited in the HE11 mode shows that the composite structure has a higher gain over a considerable frequency range. These results are not readily explained on the basis of currently accepted radiation-pattern formulas for the dielectric-rod aerial.
