  • Abstract
This paper gives an outline of the user requirements for and the design principles involved in a new compact monochrome video projector. The unit is specifically intended for high resolution large screen display of alphanumeric and graphic information of computer generated signals. Emphasis has been placed on the ease of customer set up and the projector\´s overall versatility. A high brightness output allcws use on flat or rear projection screens that may already be in place. To obtain a better contrast ratio in higher ambient light enviroments, a higher gain curved screen is normally used to reject unwanted light. This large display medium provides an excellent man/machine interface for large groups of people involved in all kinds of computer software and hardware demonstrations. It also readily displays "on line" information for sales clinics, business boardrooms, stock and comnodity exchanges and airports. A trip to any recent computer trade show finds several exhibitors trying to display their wares on bulky, low performance consumer projection television sets which were designed for different requirements. To match these needs, the new design employs a unique combination of lens, CRT, and electronics expertise in a small, lightweight and economical package.
