Abstract :
To raise the cash badly needed for new power plants, the Brazilian Government is vigorously endeavouring to sell off its utilities to private interests in pursuit of its Plan 2015, the country´s 20-year master plan for electric power generation, transmission, and distribution. The author describes the progress made in privatising the electricity sector in Brazil outlining the various laws, decrees and regulations passed to encourage private investment
