Abstract :
The first experimental demonstration of directional coupling of an optical film-guided wave is reported. The coupler consists of three-layered deposited glass films on the substrate, and coupling occurs between the first and the third film. The coupling length for complete power transfer was measured about 200 µm at wavelength 6328 Å.
