Abstract :
The letter concerns the development of a method for testing dielectric capacitors for the presence of internal discharges that can lead to breakdown of the insulation and failure of the capacitor. This method is suitable for rapid, production-line testing of capacitors; minor modification only would be necessary for it to be applied to other insulation media, e.g. in power cables.
