The Development of High-quality Receivers for Am Stereo

Almost all current designs for AM receivers or tuners use a ferrite antenna and/or a tuned RF stage with one or two separate tuned RF circuits. These are basically just slight modifications of the old 5-tube radio. Because of this, almost all literature written on the subject of AM receiver design was written when large tube-type receivers were popular.
