Abstract :
In an ettort to reduce system developrment time, system costs and to provide more capabilities, system designers have turned more and more to microcomputers. The microcomputer (MCU), in adclition to containing a CPU, usually contains ROM, RAM, TIMERS, I/O and other teatures. Because of these basic building blocks, integrated onto a tiny piece ot silicon, the MCU can be described as a "System on Siilicon". Hence the phrase is often heard "the system is tne solution". The microcomputer because it is an extremely powerful mass produced system, that is easily adaptable, to specitic tasks, makes it the basic building block of many larger system tasks. (applications)
