Abstract :
The notion of the level-crossing activity (LCA) of a random signal is introduced, and a measure for the LCA of stationary normal processes is proposed. This measure is related to the mean distance between successive level crossings of an equidistantly sampled and linearly interpolated version of the original signal. Formulas and properties concerning this measure are derived.
