Abstract
A multicarrier direct sequence code division multiple access (MC-DS-CDMA) transmitter that takes advantage of the properties of the CDMA codes to minimise intercarrier interference (ICI) is presented. The proposed system does not add significant complexity to the conventional MC-DS-CDMA system and improves overall performance without lowering the transmission rate. The CDMA signals transmitted employ two codes: an orthogonal variable spreading factor code and a scrambling sequence. This transmitter not only reduces ICI, but also allows flexible multi-rate transmissions. It can be employed in both synchronous or asynchronous uplink and downlink.
