  • Abstract
    A closed-form expression is obtained for pulse broadening in graded-index fibres with k2(r)=1¿r2+¿2r4+¿+¿nr2n. Pulse broadening for k2(r)=1¿r2+0.615r4+70r6 and r<0.1 is 12 times smaller than for square-law fibres if material dispersion is neglected.
