Novel technique for the linearisation of charge-coupled devices

A useful technique for obtaining a low-harmonic-distortion transfer function with charge-coupled devices is proposed. The technique is applicable to all c.c.d. technologies where the charge may be sensed nondestructively, even when the sensing is itself a nonlinear process. A brief description of the technique is given, together with experimental results, and a performance comparison is made with other means of linearisation.
