Abstract :
An improved weighted least-squares (LS) algorithm is presented for the design of minimax finite-impulse-response (FIR) digital filters specified both in frequency and time domain. The new technique is compared with traditional algorithms for linear-phase FIR filter design, demonstrating its speed and precision. It is then applied to the design of Nyquist filters with both null and non-null intersymbol interference, demonstrating its flexibility
