Abstract :
The role of consultants in industrial projects in provinding expert advice, feasibility or project studies and services for implementation of new or modification projects is defined and the reasons for such a role are outlined. Case histories are given as examples of the diversity of services provided by consultants with experienced professional personnel continuously employed on worldwide industrial projects, and who are independent of all manufacturing and contracting interest. These case histories include reports on enhancement of existing steelworks, implementation of steelworks on greenfield sites, assessment of the facilities of a contractor being considered for carrying out a large project and the design and implementation of services to a plant where confidentiality of process information is essential.
