Abstract :
A scheme is presented to recover the phase of a diffracted wave from the knowledge of its amplitude. The Helmholtz wave equation is utilized to relate the phase and amplitude of a diffracted wave; this relationship is the basis of a perturbation solution for the phase function. Signal processing issues associated with the implementation of the scheme are discussed. Applications of the method in certain phase reconstruction/unwrapping problems are shown
