Comments, with reply, on ´A comparison of 12 parallel Fortran dialects´ by A.H. Karp and R.G. Babb, II

The author points out several inaccuracies and misleading comments in the section on Encore´s Multimax in the above article (see ibid., vol.5, no.5, p.52-67, Sept. 1988). One of the authors, A.H. Karp, apologizes for the errors, noting that problems cited in the article may have been unique to a particular installation concerning which he had information. He states that he was unaware at the time of writing the article, that Encore supports an extended Fortran, called Encore Parallel Fortran, (EPF), that allows the ready parallelization of many applications, since all documentation on EPF was considered confidential by Encore and thus was unavailable.<>
