Abstract :
The behaviour of a quartz multivibrator with a complementary switch is analysed in the paper. The circuit consists of a complementary switch (as an active component) and a quartz crystal unit (as a component for frequency stabilisation). The methods of the theory of relaxation oscillations are applied to determine the oscillating condition and mode, as well as the period of oscillation. Based on the analytical results, which were obtained using the phase plane method, an improved version of the multivibrator is proposed, which exhibits much better frequency stability than a similar, previously described multivibrator circuit.
