  • Abstract
The paper presents a novel method for the estimation of the voltage magnitudes and phase angles at the nodes of an interconnected electric power system. The algorithm proposed represents an iterative process which utilises four sets of linear equations, the solution of which is achieved by sparse linear programming. In addition to the estimation of the voltage magnitude and phase angle at the nodes of the system, the algorithm also determines the real and reactive power flows in all the branches, including the power flows in individual loads and generators as opposed to only a nodal injection. The technique has the advantage that it does not depend on an error-free representation of the topology of the network.
