Abstract :
Static VAr systems (SVSs) play an important role as a tool of dynamic reactive-power compensation for providing automatic, continuous voltage control and enhancing both small disturbance and transient stability of interconnected power systems. To increase the effectiveness of the SVS employment on power systems, in the paper a new design procedure of SVS feedback controllers is developed. The proposed control strategy is of the decentralised type and requires for each SVS only the feedback of voltage deviation at the busbar where the SVS is located. Simulation studies on a sample power system have been carried out to illustrate the capability of the suggested approach.
