Abstract
Currently used channel assignment strategies in cellular mobile radiocommunication systems deal inefficiently with the higher-priority demands for a communication channel posed by a user who enters a new cell while his telephone conversation is in progress. A completely new strategy for allocating communication channels to various users is proposed in the paper. The proposed strategy creates naturally more favourable conditions for users having higher priority, and this without significantly degrading the overall performance of the system. The performance of the proposed scheme is simulated under some basic conditions to give an initial indication of its potential.
