Abstract :
The authors propose a novel method for removing the lock-in phenomenon in optical passive ring-resonator gyros (OPRGs). This method uses gyro bias modulation with a sinusoidal wave, which is induced by the optical Kerr effect in the fiber resonator. This method might also be applicable to stimulated Brillouin fiber-optic laser gyros.<>
