Abstract :
A method for the computation of transmission-line transients is proposed which takes into account the frequency dependence of the conductor and earth series impedances, and the travelling-wave reflection and refraction phenomena caused by discontinuity points present in the system. The use of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and variable-step sampling in the frequency domain greatly reduce the amount of computer time and memory needed for this method. As an example, a practical case is examined.
