            Abstract : 
A sequence of upper and lower bounds for the 

 function defined as 
![Q(x)= 1/ \\sqrt {2 \\pi} \\int_{x}^{\\infty } \\exp[(-y^{2})/2]dy](/images/tex/5592.gif)
 is developed. These bounds are shown to be tighter than those most commonly used.
