Abstract :
A simple approach to the adaptation of a linear filter to cope with spectral uncertainties is presented. Based on the calculation of the total output error power, including the errors of spectral estimation, a criterion is proposed for deciding whether the estimated filter is effective at any given frequency. By forcing the filter response to unity at all ineffective frequencies, an improvement in performance is obtained.
