Abstract :
Dual variational principles have been devised to provide a simple and accurate method for the calculation of the energy of Poissonian fields. The method is illustrated by the calculation of the inductance of a T-shaped conductor in a slot with iron boundaries. In comparison with the normal finite-element method, the computing time is reduced by at least an order of magnitude.
