Abstract :
While many transformers world-wide are nearing the end of their lifetimes, there is still an urgent need to optimise transformer fleet performance through higher availability. And of course, this has to be achieved at the lowest possible cost with minimum environmental impact. Due to these pressures, many asset managers are moving from time-based maintenance to condition-based maintenance or even reliability-centred maintenance. Decisions are no longer driven by an average timeframe defined by observations and past experience, but instead take into account the actual condition of the equipment and the level of reliability required to fulfil its function.
