Abstract :
The author describes a vision for education which highlights some of the good things to be expected from the intelligent application of new technologies. He believes in telecommunications and information technology as fundamentally positive forces in society. They are important drivers for economic growth, new employment and prosperity. But they also have an important role in a social and human dimension. He argues that telecommunications and information technology will increase people´s ability to communicate with each other, their opportunities to assimilate and utilise information and know-how, and their capacity to solve problems and develop new knowledge.<>
