Abstract :
The conditions are developed for a variable structure control system to reach a switching function null space from anywhere in state space. Conditions are generated for full gain switching and reduced gain switching conditions. It is shown that as fewer gains are switched more of the state space has trajectories which move away from the switching null space, but reachability can still be maintained by suitable choice of switching function gains.
