Abstract
The possibility of using a representation of the electromagnetic fields in terms of a two-component magnetic Hertz vector to calculate fields and frequencies in cavities is examined. The governing equation is the vector Helmholtz equation, and the model is tested by calculating fields in axially symmetric cavities.
