Abstract :
The paper shows that the two systems of electricity and magnetism are inherently symmetrical. The introduction of relativistic 4-vectors and tensors extends this symmetry into a form which is easily exploited to unify the approach to static and dynamic problems in any curvilinear co-ordinate system.
