Abstract :
An algorithm is presented for the factored state-space realisation of two-dimensional (2D) systems. The algorithm is based in the application of the node precedence or ordering concept, used in the synthesis of one-dimensional digital filters, to the 2-D systems. It involves the determination of the continued fraction and its associated signal flow graph from the 2D transfer function. The signal flow graph representation is then used to determine a factored state-space description of the 2D system, and a formula for computing the output roundoff noise of this realisation is given
