Abstract :
Severe depolarisation (attributed to ice particles) measured simultaneously using linearly (11.6 GHz) and circularly (11.8 GHz) polarised beacons from OTS and the 14.5 GHz circularly polarised up-path transmissions is reported. Concurrent 12.1, 14.8, 20 and 30 GHz radiometer results are also presented, and it is noted that backscattered energy from the 14.5 GHz transmissions has interfered with the 14.8 GHz radiometer, producing an output that exhibits some correlation with the circular depolarisation.
