Abstract
The display of shaded pictures of terrain can take advantage of the geometric properties of the data. In particular, the authors discuss the bilinear interpolation of a surface given by its values of a rectangular grid and extend front and back facing notions to patches. Then they study the clipping problem in this particular context and discuss two hidden surface elimination techniques, priority list and ray tracing.
