Abstract :
The current-loop response of a DC thyristor drive contains significant nonlinearities, dependent upon operating conditions. Control methods based upon frequency-response analysis give imperfect results, but fully-developed time-domain analysis of the output waveform demands excessive computing power. An approximate time-domain approach has been identified and implemented which improves the control of current in a commercially-viable manner.
