Abstract :
A simple and cost-effective MUSE (multiple sub-Nyquist sampling encoding) to NTSC (National Television System Committee) converter, in which two LSIs using 0.7-μm CMOS technology are utilized for video and audio processing, respectively, has been developed. Three display modes, ZOOM and WIDE modes for 4:3 NTSC TV and FULL mode for 16:9 widescreen TV are provided. Typical output images according to the three display modes of the MUSE-to-NTSC converter are shown. The converter provides two different NTSC video outputs, composite and separated Y/C. Two-channel audio output of CD (compact disc) quality is provided. Various functions such as color blanking, screen up/down in WIDE mode, left/right screen in ZOOM mode, and still/strobe image are also provided
