Abstract
All of the processing necessary to convert an analog video signal into a digital component stream has been integrated onto a single 44 pin IC. The wide variety of supported formats, the range of processing options, and the use of consumer packages uniquely qualify this chip for use in the evolving multimedia market. The notable features of the video pixel decoder include single power supply (5 V); power up default state; internal 8-b ADCs (analog-to-digital converters) with clamping and AGC (automatic gain control); multistandard color decoding NTSC (National Television System Committee)/PAL/SECAM/S-VHS; 8-bit, 4:2:2 processing; integrated delay line; horizontal resizing between 32 and 1056 pixel/line; alpha key generation; YUV (yellow, ultraviolet) 4:2:2 or YUV 4:1:1 or YUV 4:4:4 or γ-corrected RGB (red, green, blue) 4:4:4 (15, 16 or 24 b); synchronous output mode with sync signals; and asynchronous mode via FIFO (first in, first out) with status flags
