Abstract
We demand phenomenality for scientific evidence, are utterly dependent on it for scientific evidence (it´s all there is), and are unable to observe it. Phenomenality appears beyond empirical science´s reach. A modern form of this decree is the mind-brain identity theorem (MBIT). Space limitations prevent a detailed discussion, but a large and complex history has embedded the MBIT at the heart of current empirical science of the mind
