Abstract
Finely pointed wires are useful for contacting semiconductor devices, for field emitters and biomedical microprobes. An `electronic pencil sharpener¿ has been developed in which a wire is shaped into a sharp point using spark erosion. The wires with a tip radius of 0.5¿1 ¿n are highly suitable contacts to Schottky mixer diodes.
