Abstract :
Phase and frequency modulation can most directly be effected by a nonlinear device whose output is a sinusoidal function of its input. While no electronic device exhibits this property, electrooptical systems can be designed with exactly this sinusoidal nonlinearity. This provides the basis for novel schemes of PM and FM.
