  • Abstract
The binary integration, also known as S out of M detection, is a popular technique by which the detection statistics of a radar can be greatly improved. In this work, the performance of the ordered-static constant false-alarm rate (OS-CFAR) with binary integration for M sweeps in Weibull background is investigated with an assumption of known shape parameter, not only for homogeneous environment, but also for nonhomogeneous background caused by interfering targets and clutter edges. It´s shown that the detection performance of the OS-CFAR with binary integration can not only be greatly improved with respect to the OS-CFAR scheme in a single pulse processing situation, but it can also control the rise of the false alarm rate at clutter edges more effectively. Moreover, an analytic expression for the false alarm rate of the OS-CFAR with binary integration for M sweeps in Weibull background is derived.
