Abstract :
A theoretical analysis of the performance of asynchronous bufferless optical burst/packet switch with limited range wavelength conversion is proposed. We analyze the problem using a queuing model of birth-death process with discouraged arrivals. To calculate the discouraged arrival rate, a theorem about the average number of circular runs is introduced and proved. The effectiveness and advantage of the method is verified by simulation and comparison
